About the Place
More commonly called “Vitoshka”, it’s Sofia’s main commercial street. It starts at the beautiful St. Nedelya’s Church and reaches the Southern Park. The wide street is named after Vitosha – the mountain which overlooks the capital. In fact, walking along the boulevard down from St. Nedelya’s Church, one can always see the over 2000-meter high mountain looming in front of him.
Between Alabin Street and Patriarch Evtimiy Vitosha Boulevard is a pedestrian-only street. This is the best section of the boulevard where you can sit down and have a nice drink or meal or shop in some of the most luxurious stores in the capital.
Some of Sofia’s most interesting shops and restaurants are actually off Vitoshka. Just take any of the streets crossing the boulevard and see where it will take you. If you’re into first-class shopping, then head to the big brand stores. On and near Vitoshka you’ll find stores of global high-end fashion labels such as Versace, Armani, Boss, Ferré, Dolce & Gabbana and many others. Vitoshka offers great opportunities for a delicious meal in many restaurants located on both sides. The multiple cafés with tables and chairs positioned outside allow you to have a cup of quality coffee, while watching the colorful people of Sofia strolling by.
A lovely central street with a very cosmopolitan vibe, with flowers everywhere, it’s the beating heart of Sofia.
